Sometimes I work on my PC. Other times, especially when it’s nice out or I’m traveling, I work on my laptop. I need a web-based time-tracking program that lets me track time no matter what machine I’m using. Toggl fits the bill, and even better, it’s free.
Most freelancers need time-tracking software. Even if you get paid by the project, you need to know how much time you’re spending or you could easily end up working for below minimum wage. Consequently, time-tracking programs are a dime a dozen. Toggl stands out, though, for being easy to use and for having a robust free offering.
Toggl comes in 3 flavors: web, desktop and smart phone app, all of which synchronize flawlessly. To start tracking time on a project, just press the button. You can also enter time manually if you need to. You can view the time you’ve spent on each individual project, aspect of a project or by client. Should you choose to spring for a paid plan Toggl will also integrate with Quickbooks, Freshbooks and Basecamp, among other apps. Teams can also use the app to track time collectively with the appropriate paid plan.
I’ve been using the free version of Toggl and I’m quite thrilled with it, really. What do you think of it?
