FollowFriday is a Twitter tradition. But how much are you really benefiting from it? Do you take the time to follow your tweeps’ recommendations? Does anybody take the time to follow you? FollowFriday is a handy little app that helps you get more out of #FollowFriday.

When you first visit the FollowFriday site, you can see a list of the Twitter users who got the most #FollowFriday recommendations. Unfortunately, the list doesn’t update in real-time-it takes FollowFriday a little over 24 hours to get the final results. So, if you visit right now all you’ll see is a “temporary” ranking of the top #FollowFriday people in the Twitterverse, and personalized #FollowFriday information for your followers won’t be available.

However, once FollowFriday finishes calculating rankings, you can log in using OAuth and see which accounts got the most #FollowFriday shout outs from your followers, and follow them instantly. You can also see who recommended you for #FollowFriday and thank them in just a couple of clicks. Additionally, FollowFriday shows you how many followers you gained from having people recommend you for #FollowFriday and a graph of how the number of #FF recommendations you receive each week has changed over time. Finally, you can grab code for a widget that encourages visitors to your website to recommend you for #FollowFriday.

All in all, I think FollowFriday is a pretty useful little app. What do you think of it?
