TeamLab //

A Free Collaboration Platform

Friday, August 6, 2010

Are you looking for an inexpensive solution to keep your office connected? TeamLab offers a lot of functionality for the best possible price: free. Use it to keep your team connected by recognizing new employees, reminding everyone of upcoming birthdays, and giving your team members a place to express themselves via their own internal blogs. Wikis and forums make it easy to share knowledge, and the “What’s New” stream provides a real-time log of team member actions.

Keep your team on track with TeamLab’s project management, which allows you to create projects, set milestones and assign tasks. Team members are notified by email whenever a task has been assigned. There’s also an integrated IM system for when you need to chat in real-time.

TeamLab is easy to use and has a lot of features for a free service. The widgets on the Dashboard are all customizable. However, one glaring omission is a calendar and a way to schedule meetings and other events. It seems like that would be more important than forums, wikis and photo-sharing. The “Events” feature seems like it should have a calendar connected, but basically it just allows you to announce company-related news.
