Nurph works with Twitter to make browsing the Internet a more communal experience. Whenever you find a website that you’d like to discuss, simply grab the URL and paste it in Nurph (or use the handy bookmarklet to make the process even faster). Nurph creates a chat box in the bottom right of the screen, which you can log into using Twitter.
Once you have your chat URL, you can invite friends using email, Facebook or Twitter (naturally). Then, you can discuss what’s on your screen together. I think Nurph would be great for watching livestreamed events like sports events and speeches-it makes it easy for everyone to chat without all the other random noise that’s likely to pop up if you use Twitter itself. It’s also way to easier to chat via Nurph than to use hashtags for tweetchats. Plus, with no 140-character limit, people can express themselves more fully.
You can also install Nurph on your website, allowing visitors to chat about your products or content. Nurph provides code, so installation is as easy as cut and paste.
I like that Nurph is a breeze to use and doesn’t require registration, but the fact that you must have a Twitter account limits its utility a little, at least for me. Most of my friends don’t do Twitter, and (I know I’m committing early adopter tech heresy here) they probably aren’t going to start using it any time soon, if ever. If you could log in via Facebook, I would get a lot more use out of it.
