Need help managing your business, and keeping track of things like time, clients and expenses? Milton is an all-in-one solution for small businesses that includes CRM, accounting and project management functions at a reasonable price-point.

Milton lets you store contact information for both businesses and people. You can classify contacts as either prospects, clients or suppliers, and sort them accordingly.  Milton also reminds you when you haven’t talked to a contact in a while.  Unfortunately, you can’t import your contacts from your email account, you have to type them all in by hand.

You can use Milton to create projects and associated to-do’s, as well as scheduling tasks for administrative stuff like billing and tracking down new customers.  It lets you designate times for the tasks but it doesn’t include a calendar. So, if that’s how you keep track of your schedule, you’re stuck entering tasks in Milton and then adding them to your calendar separately. iCal integration would be nice, but it isn’t available.

You can use Milton to create time sheets, but there’s no timer included. Integration with a time-tracking app would be another improvement.

Invoices are easy to create and can be converted to PDF and emailed. However, there’s no way to add a logo or preview before sending, and no PayPal or Google checkout integration (a definite minus for web workers).

Milton’s not a bad little app, it’s just missing some functionality that I personally consider important.  It’s quite reasonably priced, though: the single user plan is only $15.99 per month and the three user plan is $60/month plus $20 for each additional user. There is a free 30-day trial with no payment information required, so you can try it out for yourself and see if it’s right for you.
