Looking for an easy way to keep up-to-date on the news? Actual News is an aggregation site that pulls together content from a variety of different mainstream news sources, such as the AP and the New York Times.
The site is laid out well, divided into sections like “culture” and “politics.” Actual News maps the location of some stories for you using Google Maps, though this feature isn’t always accurate: One story about the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, Tennessee came with a map of Manchester, England. There’s also a section that shows which content from the site has been shared on Facebook recently.
Basically, the main thing that recommends Actual News is its simple layout and ease of use. There are no RSS feeds to set up, and it’s easier to navigate than Google News, in my opinion. It only pulls information from mainstream news sources, not blogs or social media, so it’s a good choice if you only want to see mainstream news articles. Personally, I prefer Thoora, which gives you a list of multiple related news stories and blogs for any given topic.
