ProductObserver is a nifty browser extension that lets you bookmark and track products from popular online stores including Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Borders, Overstock and Zappos. You can arrange to be notified of sales, or if the price goes down below a certain point. If you aren’t sure about a product because it doesn’t have many reviews yet, you can also request to be notified when a certain number of people have reviewed the product.
ProductObserver is easy to install and easy to use. Once you have it set up, a blue button that says “Track this Product” will show up on the product pages of supported websites. If you want to track a product, just click the button and select what it is you want to track (price, reviews, etc).
ProductObserver notifies you when your desired criteria have been met right from your browser, via an icon on the status bar. This is convenient; however, it would be nice if there were the option to sign up for email alerts for people who travel a lot or switch computers often.
Unfortunately for Chrome users, ProductObserver is only available for Firefox and Internet Explorer. If you use either of these browsers, though, it’s definitely a welcome addition to your online shopping toolkit.
