Bannersnack is a quick and easy way to create Flash banners for your website. You don’t have to write a single line of code-with Bannersnack, creating a Flash banner is a lot like making an animated Powerpoint presentation.
All you have to do is upload the images you want to use (either from your hard drive or from Flickr/istockphoto.com), enter and format the text, and add special effects and transitions as desired. You can also add buttons. One thing I especially liked about Bannersnack is that it automatically formats/resizes your pictures when you upload them, so you can upload full-sized shots from your digital camera without having to open a separate editing program to shrink them down to size first.
Once you’ve designed your banner, you can email it (free), grab an embed code with the BannerSnack watermark (also free), grab an embed code without the watermark (6 Snacktools points) or download the file to host your banner yourself (4 points). About those points: “Snacktools points” are sold in packages, and can cost anywhere from $1.90 to $.66 per point, depending on the size of the package.
You can use Bannersnack to design banners to spruce up your website or to design banner ads, but if you’re using it for ads there is a catch: the banners won’t work with Google Adwords.
That said, Bannersnack is quick and easy to use: I made a little banner with some pictures from a hiking trip, and it took me longer to figure out that the showy orchid in the first picture was indeed a showy orchid than it took me to make the banner itself. Check it out:
