Gmail is justly famed for its spam filter, but what about all of those messages that aren’t exactly spam, but aren’t important, either? You know, notifications of sales from websites where you’ve shopped at before, forwarded email chain letters with pictures of kittens from your Aunt Martha, etc. It takes time to sort through these messages, and when you’re busy, that’s time that could be better spent doing other things.
Gtriage is an easy way to cut through the noise in your Gmail inbox. Basically, Gtriage sifts through your messages and decides how important they are, then labels them accordingly. You can choose whether you want to single out important messages by labeling them “important” or to single out the unimportant messages by labeling them “blab.”
That’s really all there is to it…there are several different account options, ranging from one Gmail account or Google apps for $3.00 per month to a $19/month plan that lets you hook up unlimited Gmail accounts.
So far, Gtriage has done an excellent job of sorting-there have only been a few instances where it tagged something as “important” when it really wasn’t, for example. Gtriage is currently in beta, so if you sign up, you may have the chance to score a free “Founder’s Account ” by taking a few minutes to “train” the system to sort your messages. However, you don’t have to participate to start using Gtriage, and soon they won’t even ask you to.The nice thing about this app is that once you sign up, you don’t have to lift a finger!
