Discover Relevant Content While You Browse

When you’re researching a topic online, it’s nice to be able to discover related content quickly. Glydo is a browser extension for Firefox that makes it easy to find additional relevant content without getting in your way.

All you have to do is download and install Glydo, then browse as usual.  Glydo sits at the bottom of your browser window, ready to feed you tidbits of related content, including news stories, web pages, videos from YouTube, Wikipedia entries and tweets. There’s also a space that just shows the latest news headlines, so you can check to see what’s going on in the world without leaving your browser window.

To be honest, I would just as soon get rid of the “latest headlines” ticker though, since its kind of distracting. I like being able to quickly navigate to other stories/sites that provide background info or additional context for what I’m reading, though. I would also love the “related tweets” feature if it were at all comprehensive or updated in real time. However, since Glydo only pulled up 2 related tweets when I reading an article about the iPad, that’s obviously just not the case.

Other than that, I wish there was a way to tell Glydo when it brings me back content that I don’t find useful. For example, when reading an article about the president’s State of the Union address, it brought me back a YouTube video of Alex Jones’ ” The Obama Deception.” Not necessarily irrelevant, but not something I would ever find useful since I think the man is, to put it mildly, off his freaking rocker. And it would be nice if it didn’t pop up whenever I try to read about politics.

These are small, nit-picky issues, though. Overall, I really like Glydo and will continue to use it.
