I have a confession to make: I’m usually a bit of a humbug when it comes to the Christmas season. But, reviewing Wishpot has actually put me into the holiday spirit.
Wishpot is quite possibly the coolest online wishlist program out there. The concept is similar to Amazon’s universal wishlist in that you can add products from any website. Naturally, Amazon is tough competition, but Wishpot has a number of spiffy features that make it even better.
Just like with Amazon’s Universal Wishlist, Wishpot lets you add a button to your toolbar so that you can easily clip items while browsing. Both programs let you create as many different lists as you want, and because holidays are about giving, not just getting, you can create lists to record gift ideas for different people.
However, Wishpot also lets you rate items you find based on how much you want them, so people can easily see what you want most. For pricier items, people can use Wishpot to make contributions to you via your Paypal account. (For really big-ticket items, though, I would recommend setting up a SmartyPig account for people to contribute to, because it earns interest and you can use it to purchase gift certificates that are worth more than what you pay for them.)
Wishpot also lets you compare prices on items to find the best deal. Plus, you can add items on the go using by using your mobile phone to take pictures and sending them to a special wishpot email address. Facebook integration makes it easy to sign up and display your wishlist on your Facebook page. The only thing that’s missing is an option to put the list into a printer-friendly format so that it can be printed and given to non-computer savvy relatives.
You can also make friends on the Wishpot network and browse their wishlists to see if there’s anything you want. Finally, Wishpot provides great gift recommendations from all over the web.

I checked out wishpot for my wedding registry, but I decided to go with myregistry.com instead because it just seemed to be a lot easier to use. They also have some cool features like a thank you note reminder list that keeps track of who gave you what so you know what to thank people for, and eCards you use to tell people where you are registered without being tacky and putting it in your invitations. I’m also using it for my christmas list, and so far so good!
Thanks for the suggestion… that thank-you card feature does sound really helpful!

sounds like myregistry posted as Amber.. that sounds like a robot talking aka a business. myregistry looks like it is made for my grandma and her friends.
I looked at myregistry and I still like Wishpot better. But, to each their own…as far as Amber being a company employee, who knows?
