Web-based invoicing programs have made it much easier for freelancers and small businesses to manage their billing.  There are a lot of great invoicing apps out there, but Ronin has a nice mix of features that makes it stand out in a crowded field.

Ronin has all of the standard features you expect from an invoicing program, including a dashboard screen that gives you a bird’s eye view of how much you’ve earned this month and how much you are still owed and the ability to send invoices and track payments.

Extra goodies include integrated time-tracking for projects that bill hourly (or if you just want to know how many hours you’ve put in on a project), the ability to let clients log in and check the status of their invoices and projects, and payment integration with Paypal and Authorize.net.

Another handy feature is the ability to create recurring invoices and send estimates.  Ronin offers several different account options depending on how many clients/staff you have and which options you need, but at $25 per month, the professional plan is really competitively priced.

The user interface is clean and easy to navigate, the invoices look professional and you can upload your own company logo. The only thing I felt was missing was the ability to import contacts from your email address book.  Entering all my clients in again by hand would be tedious if I were to switch to Ronin. Also, the ability to export data would be nice.  Finally, Ronin only handles invoicing, so if you want a full-featured accounting program that lets you track business expenses as well as payments, you need to look elsewhere.

All in all, Ronin offers a great mix of useful features for a good price, and if you are in the market for a new invoicing app, you should definitely check it out.

What invoicing app are you using now? And what do you think of Ronin?
