They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what if you aren’t any good at illustration? Creately is a helpful tool for creating beautiful charts, diagrams, mockups and more.
Creately comes with a bunch of different types of templates to create graphics suitable for anything from presenting at a conference to teaching a room full of kindergartners. There’s also a selection of shapes that would make a bowl of Lucky Charms jealous: hearts, stars, X’s, O’s, and many more. Web designers will also appreciate being able to select from a variety of standard UI elements.
You can select and arrange the shapes to your heart’s content using Creately’s convenient drag-and-drop interface, then show Creately which shapes need to be connected and it will automatically connect them for you in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible.
Also, for certain types of diagrams, such as network diagrams, Creately can identify issues in your design and give you a heads-up so that you can correct them. Additionally, Creately makes it easy to share your charts and diagrams by providing a both an embed code and a URL that you can send in an email or post on social networking sites. There’s even a “share on Twitter” button to make it easier to post the product of your creative genius on Twitter.
A public Creately account is free. If you want a little bit more privacy, you can sign up for a premium account and pay whatever you feel the service is worth (although there’s a minimum of $1.00 per month).
