Increasingly, job searches take place online.  So, it makes sense to put your resume online, too.  Praux is a new website designed to help you set up an online resume that you can market to potential employers and share via social networking sites.

To get started, you  claim your own personal Praux.com URL and edit the default resume to reflect your education, job history, etc. Praux hosts a copy of the resume, so you can send potential employers to the URL. You can also export a PDF copy to print or attach to an email.

So, what does Praux offer that other online resume sites like Raveal and CeeVee don’t? Right now, the main thing that they offer is the ability to ask the Praux community for help with your resume. As you browse resumes, you have the option to comment or make suggestions to help the resume writer improve their work.

In the future, you should be able to tag sections of your resume to create custom resumes for different employers, but this feature doesn’t appear to be available right now.   However, you can share your resume via Facebook and Twitter.

****Correction-The tagging functionality, called views,  is available now-I just didn’t see it when I tested the app. To add a  new view, right-click inside the resume to bring up the editing menu, then select “Views.”

The user interface is easy to navigate but way too black-and-white for my tastes.  I thought one of the advantages of hosting your resume online was that you could make it a little bit more attractive.  Raveal and Cee Vee both let you apply themes and include pictures, and Raveal lets you add clickable links.

However, I do like the ability to get feedback and suggestions from the community.  Praux is still under construction, and if they include all of the features that they claim are in the pipeline, it could become quite useful for online job seekers.
