Drag and Drop Your Photos

dropico

Keeping up with multiple social networking sites can be a pain.  Managing photos over multiple sites is especially annoying-who wants to upload an entire photo album more than once?  And if you’ve stopped using MySpace completely, it’s a pain to have to re-upload your photos onto Facebook.

Dropico is an app that claims to make it easier to manage photos over multiple social networking sites with a nifty drag-and-drop interface. Theoretically, you can transfer photos between sites quickly and easily by dragging and dropping them. On Facebook, you can also see your friends’ albums and snag pics from them, too. When you want to post a new photo, you can use Dropico to upload it one time and then drag and drop it wherever you like.

Sounds great, right? There’s only problem with Dropico, but it’s a doozy: it doesn’t work very well at all. First, I have not yet been able to get it to load a photo album with more than 16 pictures in it. As you may imagine, this limits the app’s utility. Second, the dragging and dropping seems to work only sporadically-sometimes it works, sometimes nothing happens.

In fact, the first time I tried the app, I got so frustrated waiting for my albums to load and trying to drag and drop pictures between albums that I gave up and decided to try again later (I really didn’t want to let a temporary glitch determine my final review). However, when I tried it again this morning,  I was still having some of the same problems.

When it does work, it’s pretty neat.  You can post a picture on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and a host of other sites quickly and easily. There’s no need to register to use the service, either.  I love the concept, and the user interface is attractive and easy to use. However, it won’t be truly useful until they get the bugs worked out and get it running more reliably.

What do you think of Dropico? If you’ve used it, please let me know in the comments whether or not you experienced the same issues.
