Everyone likes having money, but most people don’t like doing all of the addition and subtraction necessary to hold on to it. Honestly, if people liked keeping track of their own spending, banks wouldn’t make billions on overdraft fees and there would be more unemployed accountants.
ManageMe7 is an app that aims to make keeping track of your finances easier and less of a chore. It’s a good solid personal accounting program, although it lacks all of the bells and whistles of apps like Wesabe and Mint. For example, premium versions will import bank statements, but won’t automatically update and automatically categorize your transactions like Wesabe and Mint will. It won’t offer you savings suggestions or promotions, and it won’t do an in-depth analysis of your financial health.
What it will do is let you set up accounts and record all of the money that goes in and out of these accounts. You can create different categories to track different types of spending, record and categorize transactions, and set reminders for bill due dates. You can also run reports to see how you’re doing.
ManageMe7 caters to the international crowd, with support for a wide variety of currencies and access to real-time conversion rates. Now, I don’t get the opportunity to travel overseas very often, so US dollar support is all I need. I’ll stick with Mint, for the time being at least, since their free service has way more features than ManageMe7’s paid plans, which cost from $6.75 to $10.80 per month.
However, if you don’t feel comfortable setting up your bank accounts with Mint and/or you don’t live in the US, ManageMe7 might be a good choice for you. The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, with cool extra features like a built-in calculator, and it’s definitely less aggravating that an old-school spreadsheet!
