Twitter is great way to connect with people and have interesting conversations. However, it requires you to be almost constantly tuned in. If you don’t check it frequently, you’re likely to miss it when someone tries to start a conversation with you, and by the time you respond, the other person has moved on. Maybe it’s just me-multitasking has never been my forte-but I can’t get anything else done if I’m constantly checking Twitter!
Twtmailer solves this problem by checking your @replies for you and notifying you by email whenever you get one. This is ideal for me, because it means whenever I have an @reply my Blackberry goes off and the Gmail notifier on my computer goes off. Then, once I come to a stopping point in whatever non-Twitter-related project I’m working on, I can log into my Twitter account and respond. No more missed opportunities for interaction!
Twtmailer’s basic service is free. Premium service is $2.99 and gives you the ability to customize the frequency with which the service checks your @replies, check DMs as well, and get notified of @replies by Twitter DM instead of email.
Twtmailer is not the only app that offers to deliver your @replies to your email inbox- Twply offers a similar service, though without the premium option. The user interface is bland but functional-which is fine, really, since most of the magic happens in your inbox. If would be preferable, however, if Twtmailer used OAuth instead of requiring you to give out your username and password.
All in all, I’ve found Twtmailer quite useful. What do you think of it?
