Okay, I have a confession to make…sometimes, I’m just a tad bit forgetful. Actually, sometimes my husband wonders if premature dementia runs in my family. Fortunately (I guess), I’ve always been this scatterbrained. It should go without saying , then, that I’m intensely interested in apps that promise to make up for this deficiency. Remember the Milk is my current favorite, but reQall just may take over its place in my heart.
ReQall lets you set up tasks and reminders by calling them in or by adding them directly on the website. If you have a pro account, you can also add reminders by email. If you add by phone, reQall uses voice recognition to both record the information and organize it for you. For example, if you call reQall and say “Meet Ken at noon tomorrow,” it goes on your to-do list with a due date of noon tomorrow. If you say “Buy toilet paper.” it goes on your shopping list.
The shopping list feature really is excellent. You can record items to buy as you discover you need them. Then, when you get to the store, call reQall and request to have your list sent to you as a text message. If you have an iPhone or Blackberry with GPS and a data connection and a reQall pro account, you can also assign tasks to specific places. Then, reQall will remind you of everything you need to do at that location. Nifty, huh?
Locations can also be used (without GPS) to organize tasks and notes by project, so you can see action items you need to complete on a project along with relevant notes clipped from the web. You can also subscribe to reQall tasks using an i-Cal feed or Google Calendar.
Another helpful feature is the ability to share tasks with other people, even if they don’t use ReQall. Technically, you can only share tasks with non-reQall users via email, but you know what carrier they use, you should be able to set up reminders to go to their cell phone’s email address and have them sent as a text.
The user interface is well-designed, making it easy to find the information that you need. Although there are a lot of organization and productivity apps out there, reQall stands out because it does so much.
How do you stay organized and keep from forgetting things?
