Brizzly //

Improve Your Twitter Experience

I try not to post about Twitter apps twice in a row, but I just got a private beta invite to test out a new Twitter app called Brizzly, and I couldn’t resist trying it out. Brizzly is yet another app that tries to improve on Twitter’s lack of structure by helping you organize the Twitterverse’s chaotic flow of information.

Brizzly is still very much under development, but it already has some pretty cool features. First, it allows you to organize your Twitter friends into groups. If you manage multiple accounts, you can add all of them to Twitter, and groups can be composed of Twitter friends from different accounts.  This allows you to read tweets from your most important Twitter friends easily.

Another cool feature, and the one that make Brizzly stand out from the crowd, is the way it handles photos and videos. When someone posts a Youtube or Vimeo video, Brizzly loads the video directly into your Twitter stream, so all you have to do is hit play. It also loads photos from Twitpic and YFrog.

Additionally, Brizzly doesn’t just list current trending topics, it also gives you a brief explanation of what they are and why they are trending. You can also save keyword searches to track topics of interest to you. Finally, Brizzly improves Twitter’s DM system by making direct messages more like instant messages. If you get a DM while you are logged in to Brizzly, you’ll be notified with a pop-up window.  You can respond from the window, and Brizzly will thread your conversations for you.

The user interface is attractive and it’s obvious that Brizzly put a lot of thought into making it easy to navigate.  OpenAuth lets you sign up in about 30 seconds, which is another plus.  Brizzly plans to add support for other social networking sites soon-it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

You can sign up to receive a beta invite here.
