Designer’s Couch is like an exclusive club/support group for the design community. They don’t just let anybody in-you have to submit your portfolio for consideration to be allowed to join.  Once you’re in, though, you connect to a community of inspired designers. Being a part of this community can help you improve your designs through helpful feedback. Designer’s Couch requires everyone leaving feedback to leave at least 140 character’s worth, increasing the amount of insightful critiques you get and screening out “fluff” comments like “nice work!”

Designer’s Couch also provides opportunities to educate yourself. Even non-members can browse  some really informative, well-written articles and look at job postings. Soon, Designer’s Couch members will be able to improve their skills with exclusive webinars. Nothing like free education! Plus, Designer’s Couch provides an expert’s directory, so if you need expert help you can easily find someone to ask.

Finally, a Designer’s Couch membership hooks you up with benefits from some companies that offer design-related products and services, like subernova.com, fluxiom.com, and adaptivepath.com.

As one would expect from a web site made by designers, for designers, Designer’s Couch is elegantly designed and easy to navigate.  There are other online communities out there for designers, of course, but Designer’s Couch stands out for the amount of support it offers its members. If you’re a designer, this site is definitely a useful tool.
