Brainstorming Made Easy

Stormweight

Brainstorming is the best way to generate ideas, but when you have even a small group of people involved, it can be hard to capture everyone’s contributions and decide which one is the best.

Stormweight is a tool that helps make the brainstorming process more productive and more organized for small-to-medium sized teams. Here’s how it works-you create a list, invite your other group members to participate, and suggest your own ideas. Everyone in the group can read each other’s ideas, add comments, and suggest ideas of their own. Then, they  can  pick out their five favorite ideas and rank them.  Since all the action takes place online, you can brainstorm with group members even when they are far away, and you can get input from more soft-spoken individuals who might refrain from sharing ideas face-to-face.

Stormweight uses these individual rankings to calculate a group ranking. The ideas that have the most support behind them naturally rise to the top.  The ratings update in real-time as group members pick out the ideas that appeal to them most. Stormweight includes other helpful features, too, like the ability to use email to add new ideas on the go and the ability to chat with other group members. However, chat is only available on the most expensive paid plan, $75 per month. If you don’t want to pay that much, you can discuss individual ideas by commenting on them.

Although the site is not particularly exciting visually, Stormweight’s drag-and-drop user interface is easy to use and to navigate.  There are plenty of tools out there to help small groups collaborate on projects, but Stormweight’s ability to uncover which ideas have the most support from group members makes it stand out.  This would be  a useful tool for small teams that brainstorm together frequently.
