Father’s Day is coming up. Have you sent Dad a card yet? If you’re like me, the answer is probably “no.” I’ll admit it-I’m horrible about sending snail mail. Envelopes usually sit on my desk for at least a week while I try to find an actual postage stamp. Who uses those things these days?

But this year, Dad will get a custom-designed card, thanks to Blurtt. Blurtt is a service that lets you create and send actual, printed postcards from your computer. No more hunting for stamps! You can choose from a variety of pre-designed cards, or upload your own card design.

You can also submit your card design to Blurtt to see if they’ll feature it on the site. The upside of this is that card designers get 5% of the proceeds of Blurtt cards sent with their designs, so you might make a little bit of money.

You can also send Blurtts to certain groups and celebrities. For example, if you have something to say to President Obama, you can say it with a Blurtt. Tired of seeing the Fail Whale on Twitter? Vent your frustration with a Blurtt. Have a secret? Send it to PostSecret from Blurtt.

Sending a postcard via Blurtt is cheap, too. It’s only 99 cents, and you can checkout through Amazon. They also have a promotion going on through Twitter-go to the Blurtt blog for instructions on how to send a card for free!

Cardstore.com and HazelMail offer similar services, but they don’t offer you the option of sending cards to public figures. Also, you have to have a person’s mailing address to use these services, and you can’t send anonymous postcards. With Blurtt, all you need is an email address. They’ll email the recipient to get their mailing address and send the card for you, and you can send cards anonymously if you’d like. Blurtt also integrates with your Facebook account, so you can post Blurtts on your Facebook profile as well as sending them in the mail.

The user interface is intuitive, and it’s easy to design and send a card. It seems like a handy service, at least for mailbox-impaired people like me. My family will appreciate it, at least!

What do you think? Is Blurtt useful for you, or would you rather just drop a card in the mail yourself?

  3. Hey! Thanks for the awesome review. Just wanted to clarify one point. You CAN upload private images that are only available for your usage, through the create page clicking the upload image link, as you did in your screen shot. Those uploaded images are not available for anyone but yourself to use!

    • Thanks so much for clarifying that! When I uploaded my image, there was a box to check to indicate that I accepted the terms and conditions, so I assumed they applied to the image I was uploading. I’ve corrected the review,
