RSS feeds are a great way to keep track of breaking news and information. But what if your favorite site doesn’t support RSS? Feedity just might be the answer. Feedity is a very cool little app that lets you create RSS feeds from almost any website. You can then export these feeds to your favorite RSS reader, or use a widget to display them on your blog.
Feedity has an attractive, intuitive user interface that’s super easy to use. To create a feed, all you have to do is enter in the URL of the website. Then, you can preview the results, refine them until it looks right and choose how you want to receive the content.
Feedyes offers a similar service, but doesn’t make it as easy to import the feed into your RSS reader or to create a widget for your blog. Feedity offers several different subscription options, ranging in price from free to $30.75 per month. The free account is fine for a personal news reader, while the higher-priced subscriptions are better for publishing content and creating mash-ups.
There’s a lot that you can do with Feedity. For example, I’m kind of an Etsy addict. Etsy doesn’t support RSS, but I was able to use Feedity to create an RSS feed of the “geekery” category. Now, I can go to my homepage and see a list of the most recently posted items in that category. You could do the same thing with Ebay, if you’re waiting for someone to list a particular item. You can also use Feedity to monitor news sites, blogs and more. Feedity’s usefulness is only limited by the fact that so many sites already support RSS.
What do you think of Feedity? What would you use it for? Share your answers in the comments.
