Remember when MTV actually played music videos? It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Well, who needs MTV anyway?  With Animoto,  you can create your own custom music videos from pictures in just a few minutes. All you have to do is select the images you want, select a soundtrack and Animoto takes over from there.  The application uses artificial intelligence to combine your chosen images with the rhythm of the music,  creating a final result that’s polished and professional. You can add text, and “spotlight” images that you want Animoto to hold on screen for a little longer.

Animoto is incredibly easy to use. The user interface is attractive and intuitive, and nobody else offers a service that does all of this for you. The potential applications are numerous-TechCrunch highlighted this application as a great way to create a last-minute Mother’s Day gift, but you could also use it to create a presentation for work, school, to promote your business online or just for fun.

It’s free to create short, 30-second video clips with Animoto. Longer, full-length videos and other features are available for $30 per year, while commercial users pay $249 per year.

Want to see how it works? The screenshots above are from me creating a short video using stock images and music hosted by Animoto. Check out the end result below!
